Major

Correlate Sequence in Film

The correlate sequence in Film offers the opportunity to investigate Film as an adjunct to another major through a coherent sequence of study. Through the progression of courses at the 100-, 200-, and 300-level, students develop a foundational understanding of cinema studies methodology and–if room allows– basic filmmaking and/or screenwriting techniques.

Courses

Film: I. Introductory

Film: II. Intermediate A. Film Studies

FILM 236 , 255 , 265 , 266 , and 280  fulfill the non-US studies course requirement. FILM 290  and 298  do not count toward the 200-level and above 2-course studies requirement. All other courses in this section do.

Film: II. Intermediate B. Film Production

FILM 209  is the prerequisite for all production courses, except for FILM 240  and 241 , where it may be taken as a corequisite.

Film: II. Intermediate C. Film Intensives

Please note that FILM 209  is also a prerequisite for all Intensives. Several Intensives are linked to other traditional classroom courses and must be taken the same semester as those courses as a corequisite.

Film: III. Advanced

Courses at the 300 level build on courses at the 200-level and FILM 209 is a prerequisite for all 300-level classes. While additional coursework at the 200-level is not required except in the case of FILM 326 , 327 , and 392 , it is strongly recommended for all 300-level classes.

Film: III. Advanced A. Film Studies

FILM 336  and 339  fulfill the non-US studies course requirement for majors. FILM 392  is a required course for all majors and is taken in the Senior year. In addition to FILM 209 , students must take at least two other film studies courses at the 200- or 300-level prior to taking FILM 392.

Film: III. Advanced B. Film Production

In addition to FILM 209 , FILM 240  or 241  are also required prerequisites for FILM 326  and FILM 327 .

Film: III. Advanced C. Film Intensives

Please note that FILM 209  is also a prerequisite for all Intensives. Several Intensives are linked to other traditional classroom courses and must be taken the same semester as those courses as a corequisite.

Film: III. Advanced D. Screenwriting

FILM 209  is a prerequisite for all screenwriting classes. FILM 319  is an additional prerequisite for FILM 301 .
